Cut and arrange colorful glass pieces to create your own mosaic masterpiece on a wooden plaque. We provide you with a take-home grout kit, complete with instructions.

The Breakdown

Grouting Instructions

MIX: Mix the grout in the provided cup, adding a trickle of water at a time, until the grout mixture is the consistency of smooth peanut butter.

APPLY: Using the glove provided, smear the grout into your mosaic, working in small circles to massage the grout into the cracks and gaps between the tiles. Make sure to gently wipe off any extra grout chunks from the tops of the tiles so you can still see the tiles. Don't worry! You'll be polishing the tiles more in a later step.

DRY: Once your piece is covered and all the gaps are filled with grout, let it dry for 5-10 minutes until the grout has lightened and formed a film on the tops of the tiles.

POLISH: Use a napkin or paper towel to gently polish the tiles off, making small circles, just like you did to spread the grout. You may need to polish again to get the tiles to have a nice shine once the grout has dried overnight. It will continue to dry for the next day or so.
Katie's Pro Tips
- Keep a small amount of the grout sand in the bag, just in case you add too much water to your grout. You can add the dry sand to get back to the peanut butter consistency that works best.
- Once you've completed step 2, add another drizzle of water to your remaining grout and use this wetter mixture to stain the wood on the sides of your mosaic plaque to match the grout color. You'll want to rub the wet grout back and forth on the wood until the sand has rubbed off and only the color stain remains.
