Walk-in Activities
No reservation needed. Come in during open studio hours, pick a project, and start creating.
Pottery Painting
Choose from hundreds of ceramic bisque pieces, mugs, plates, figurines, banks, and more, and paint them however you like.
- Pieces start at $14 plus sales tax
- No studio fee if you finish in one visit
- We provide paints, brushes, stencils, and supplies
- No time limit, take as long as you need
- Items are kiln fired and ready for pickup in approximately 1 week
Wine Glass Painting
Customize wine glasses, champagne flutes, mason jar mugs, tumblers, and more with our specialty glass paints. Then, you'll take your glass home and bake them in your oven.

Mosaics
Cut and arrange colorful glass tiles to create a mosaic design on a wooden plaque. You'll let it dry overnight and then grout your mosaic plaque.

- Take your piece home and grout it the next day
Clay Hand Building
Sculpt with clay using basic tools and cutters. We bisque fire your piece, then you return to glaze your pottery. Good for those with some clay experience.

- Pieces are bisque fired, then you glaze and we kiln fire for pickup in about 1 week after glazing

Wheel Throwing
Sit at the wheel and shape your own pieces from 1 lb. lumps of clay. One-on-one instruction by one of our potters included — a hands-on experience you won't forget!

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your visit
Do I need a reservation for pottery painting?
No reservation is needed for walk-in pottery painting at Joe Picasso's in Wilton Manors, near Fort Lauderdale. Wheel throwing, guided classes and parties should be booked in advance. We seat the last walk-in table 1.5 hours before closing.
How much does pottery painting cost?
Pottery pieces start at $14 plus sales tax. Paints, brushes, supplies, glazing and kiln firing are included. There is no studio fee if you finish in one visit. Each additional sitting costs $10 with no time limit.

What is "bisque"?
Newly formed clay art pieces are called greenware. When the greenware is fired in a kiln (oven) it is called bisque. The bisque is painted and glazed and fired in a kiln for a second time and becomes a decorative ceramic piece.
Why do the paints look different than the color samples?
When the paints are fired in a kiln, a chemical reaction occurs which changes them and makes them look shiny. It is important that you use the color samples to choose your colors and don’t choose colors from their appearance right out of the bottle.
How long will it take to paint my chosen item?
On average, you can plan to spend 1.5 to 2 hours in the studio. We have noticed that it takes younger children about an hour or so to paint a piece. Older kids take longer and adults doing extremely detailed pieces may even make a couple of trips to the studio to finish their masterpiece.
Why can’t I take my masterpiece home the same day?
After you paint your piece of bisque, the paint must dry thoroughly. We will then dip your piece in a clear glaze and let it dry thoroughly before placing it in the kiln. For the kiln to fire properly and cool down takes about 24 more hours.
How long do I have to wait to get my masterpiece after it is painted?
Our normal turn-around time is about one (1) week. We do have an expedited 5-day service for which there is an additional charge (available if the kiln schedule allows). We will try to work with you if you have specific time requirements.
I can’t paint. Will you do it for me?
You are working on a work of art to call your own so we encourage you to give it your best effort. We do have several tools available to help you with your own original ideas and encourage you to be creative. Ask about our stencils and we’ll show you how you can create your unique masterpiece! If you have a complex project that just has to be perfect, ask about custom artwork by Katie, our resident artist and potter!
Can I put my pot in the dishwasher/microwave?
Yes, but we recommend hand washing and not using it in the microwave longer than 2 minutes to extend the life of your piece. We have stoneware class projects available throughout the year, with pieces that you can bake in the oven and can be put in the microwave or dishwasher without worry.
